Detained teen taken to hospital after collapse

PanARMENIAN.Net - Eighteen-year-old David Minasyan, arrested for two months following the incident at St. Anna Church, was taken by ambulance to the Ejmiatsin Medical Center before being admitted to the Armavir penitentiary, his lawyer Lusine Martirosyan said, according to Pastinfo.

The lawyer stated that Minasyan experienced loss of consciousness and collapse, warning that each such episode could be fatal. She also noted that he has unidentified drug allergies.

Later, it became known that the 18-year-old was returned from the hospital back to the Armavir penitentiary without waiting for his mother to provide medical documents, «Aysor.am» reports.

Lawyer Varduhi Elbakyan told journalists that doctors were asked to wait three minutes for the mother to bring medical records, but they did not wait.

“Their examination ended with just asking, ‘How are you, son?’ and performing a single ultrasound,” Elbakyan said.

Lusine Martirosyan added that the penitentiary had been unable to provide first aid to Minasyan and that it remains unclear how his condition will be managed, especially given his allergies.

Minasyan has not eaten since yesterday.

Elbakyan also emphasized that her client has no mental health issues.

“David Minasyan has no psychological problems. He has other health issues, but he is a bright and knowledgeable young man,” she said, according to Aysor.am.

According to the lawyer, the case concerns a medium-gravity offense.

“Have you ever seen an 18-year-old detained under an article предусматривающую 2–5 years of imprisonment?” Elbakyan added.

On March 29, an incident occurred during a liturgy at St. Anna Church in Yerevan. As Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was leaving through a dense crowd, one person told a bodyguard, “Don’t look at me like that.” Another attempted to strike him. Pashinyan instructed his guards to remain calm. Detentions took place in the churchyard.

Afterward, Pashinyan said some of those making noise were affiliated with the Republican Party, while others were from the Sasna Tsrer group.

Other participants in the incident—Mikayel Minasyan and Gevorg Gevorgyan—have been released. Gevorgyan was granted bail of 5 million drams and a travel restriction, while Mikayel Minasyan was placed under a travel ban and charged with assisting.
