Justice minister sets limits on mediation payments

PanARMENIAN.Net - Family mediators are not allowed to demand additional payments that have not been agreed upon in advance with the parties, Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan said in a Facebook post.

She added that mediators cannot charge a separate fee for issuing the final mediation agreement record. According to the minister, such behavior is unlawful, and citizens encountering it are urged to contact the ministry or the Chamber of Mediators.

“Within mandatory mediation, the payment for up to two hours of mediation is clearly set by a government decision and cannot exceed 45,000 drams.

A mediator cannot require you to cover expenses that were not previously agreed with you. Moreover, such costs must not be disproportionate,” the minister stated.
