Armenia, EU discuss defense cooperation![]() April 15, 2026 - 12:19 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, during a meeting in Brussels on April 14 with European Union Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius, highlighted the active momentum in expanding Armenia–EU partnership. Ararat Mirzoyan and Andrius Kubilius exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation in the security and defense sectors, which have been developing recently. Both sides emphasized that Armenia’s significant progress in implementing democratic reforms, along with the adoption of the Armenia–EU strategic agenda, has created a new vision and opportunities for cooperation. The discussion also touched upon high-level events scheduled to take place in Yerevan in May, including agenda items of the Armenia–EU summit. The Armenian foreign minister and the EU commissioner also exchanged views on regional developments. Mirzoyan presented the ongoing efforts aimed at further institutionalizing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Armenia and France signed agreements on defense cooperation on October 23, 2023, during the visit of Armenia’s Defense Minister Suren Papikyan to France. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
