Azerbaijan speaker points to regional transformation

PanARMENIAN.Net - Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova, speaking in Istanbul at the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, addressed progress in the dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“The South Caucasus has entered a phase of transformation. The progress recorded in the Azerbaijan–Armenia dialogue shows that even protracted conflicts can be resolved with political will and respect for international law. Parliamentary diplomacy has played an important role in this process, contributing to the strengthening of trust,” she said.

In conclusion, the speaker emphasized that only through joint efforts is it possible to build a more peaceful and just world.

Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonian, speaking at the same assembly in Istanbul, stated that achieving real reconciliation with Azerbaijan requires the release of 19 Armenians held in Baku and their reunification with their families, while the fate of other missing persons must be clarified. He also said that Armenia is ready to deepen relations with Turkey.
