Simonyan, Papuashvili discuss cooperation in Istanbul![]() April 17, 2026 - 18:37 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan, during a meeting in Istanbul with Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on the sidelines of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), discussed a wide range of issues related to interparliamentary cooperation. The sides also touched upon regional developments as well as other topics of bilateral interest. Earlier, Simonian also met with Speaker of Azerbaijan’s parliament Sahiba Gafarova. During that meeting, the sides positively noted recent developments in the normalization process between the two countries, including steps aimed at strengthening peace and stability, as well as establishing and expanding trade ties. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
