Avinyan says Ajapnyak metro station tops agenda

PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan said the Ajapnyak metro station is the city’s top priority and ordered weekly reporting on preparatory work.

At a meeting at Yerevan Мunicipality, officials discussed current steps toward building the station, Radar Armenia reports.

“This will become the norm until we begin actual construction there,” he said.

Earlier, construction had been expected to begin in 2024, then postponed to late 2025, and later to 2026. Under the 2025 budget, 9.6 billion drams were allocated for the project, later reduced to 1.4 billion drams. An additional 2 billion drams was included in the draft 2026 budget.

Avinyan had earlier said part of the 2025 funds was redirected to purchase 45 new 12-meter trolleybuses.
