Czech envoy expresses solidarity with Armenians

PanARMENIAN.Net - Czech Ambassador to Armenia Petr Pirunčík visited the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex to pay tribute to the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide.

“Today marks the 111th anniversary of the Day of Remembrance of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. We bow our heads in memory of the victims and express our solidarity with the Armenian people,” the ambassador wrote on his Facebook page.

He also quoted Czech traveler and humanitarian Karel Hansa from his book “The Horrors of the East,” in which he described the tragedy of Armenians:

“I saw endless caravans of a suffering people—exhausted, hungry, deprived of human dignity. The Armenian people were condemned not only to physical destruction, but also to unimaginable suffering,” Hansa wrote.

On April 25, 2017, the Czech parliament recognized the Armenian Genocide.
