EU, Armenia make progress on visa liberalization![]() May 5, 2026 - 19:24 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia and the European Union have made progress in the visa liberalization process, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in a post on X. “We are making progress on visa liberalization. I know this is very important for Armenians. It is also important for the EU, as it brings our peoples closer together. I am confident that we will achieve it,” she said. On May 5, the Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Vassilis Maragos, handed over to Interior Minister Arpine Sargsyan the European Commission’s progress report on the implementation of the visa liberalization action plan. The European Commission positively assessed Armenia’s progress, highlighting the authorities’ clear political commitment to implementing the necessary reforms. During the summit, Ursula von der Leyen also stressed the importance of the report, praising the work carried out in recent months and expressing confidence in the continued success of the process. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
