Armenia to ease visa rules for COP17 participants

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia will temporarily simplify the visa regime for COP17 participants, the Environment Ministry said.

The Armenian government plans to temporarily suspend a restriction in force since 2008 under which citizens of certain countries could obtain entry visas only through diplomatic missions and consulates upon invitation.

According to the draft decision, within the framework of the COP17 conference, representatives of certain countries will also be able to apply for entry visas through the E-VISA electronic system.

The draft was prepared jointly by the Environment Ministry, the Foreign Ministry and the National Security Service.

The amendments are expected to simplify visa procedures for specific groups of participants attending the international conference.

The 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) will be held at Yerevan’s Meridian Expo Center from Oct. 18 to Oct. 30, 2026.
