No applicants for 119 university programs in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - For 119 programs at 31 universities in Armenia, no applicants registered during this phase, said Karo Nasibyan, deputy director of the Assessment and Testing Center. He presented the results of the second phase of university admissions registration.

“The government approved 2,133 state-funded and 10,587 paid places for this year. Last year, there were 2,142 tuition-free and 9,998 paid places. A total of 16,482 applicants registered with the Assessment and Testing Center, and their exams will be organized at 49 unified examination centers,” Nasibyan said, according to Sputnik Armenia.

According to him, Yerevan State University has the highest number of applicants, followed by Armenian State University of Economics, while National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia and National Polytechnic University of Armenia share third place.

They are followed in demand by Yerevan State Medical University, Brusov State University, the Pedagogical University, and other higher education institutions.

Nasibyan also noted that the top ten most in-demand fields of study have not changed compared to last year.

Measured by applicants per available place, the most competitive program is “Dentistry” at Yerevan State Medical University with 2.9 applicants per place. It is followed by “General Medicine” at the same university with 2.3 applicants per place, “Law” at Yerevan State University with 2.1 applicants per place, and “Economics” at Armenian State University of Economics with 2 applicants per place. At the same time, five of the ten most in-demand fields of study belong to the Armenian State University of Economics.

The deputy director also reported that 53 programs at 22 universities have only one applicant each, while 119 programs at 31 universities had no applicants at all during this phase. He did not specify the universities involved, noting that interest in those programs could emerge during the third admission phase.
