Pashinyan accuses rivals of seeking “return to fear”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a meeting with voters in Noragavit that there are political forces that “want to turn Yerevan and Armenia into a place at the level of a ‘Nizhni Tapr’ village.”

He said that in 2018 his government inherited power from what he described as a “three-headed coalition of corruption and war,” but claimed that the same forces are now attempting to return to power, Panorama.am reports.

“So they can continue looting unjustly, so these playgrounds will not exist in Yerevan, so these schools, kindergartens, and roads will not exist, and instead there will be an atmosphere of fear. So that when an Armenian citizen leaves home, they know that some oligarch’s spoiled offspring may run them over, and that they need someone’s approval to live in their own home and neighborhood,” Pashinyan said.

“Today, there is only one entity in the Republic of Armenia that can grant or deny approval, and that entity is the citizen of Armenia, the people,” Pashinyan concluded, inviting supporters to attend the campaign’s final rally and to participate in voting.

The election campaign that began on May 8 will continue until June 5. June 6 will be a day of silence, and elections will be held on June 7. On May 25, it became known that the Alliance Progressive Centrist Party had submitted a withdrawal application, based on which the Central Electoral Commission invalidated the registration of the party’s electoral list. As a result, ballot paper number 13 will not be included in the upcoming elections.
