Four detained in election bribery investigation

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee has announced the exposure of an alleged election bribery scheme and the prevention of its further operation.

According to the committee, the scheme allegedly involved former high-ranking officials, including A.S., who previously served as head of the State Property Management Department.

Four individuals have been detained on suspicion of giving and receiving election bribes. By court order, two of the suspects have been placed in pre-trial detention as a preventive measure.

The Anti-Corruption Committee said active investigative and procedural measures are continuing to identify the full circle of individuals allegedly involved in the scheme and to initiate criminal proceedings against them where appropriate.

The election campaign, which began on May 8, continued through June 5. June 6 is a day of silence, and parliamentary elections will be held on June 7. On May 25, the Alliance Progressive Centrist Party submitted a withdrawal request, after which the Central Electoral Commission invalidated the registration of the party’s electoral list. As a result, there will be no ballot paper numbered 13 in the upcoming elections.
