CEC outlines procedures for recount applications

PanARMENIAN.Net - An application for a recount of voting results at a polling station may be submitted to the relevant Territorial Electoral Commission on June 8 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. or on June 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission announced.

The right to request a recount belongs to a candidate included in an electoral list, an authorized representative, or a member of a precinct electoral commission.

“Within the same deadlines, an application to declare the voting results at a polling station invalid may also be submitted to the relevant Territorial Electoral Commission by a party, an alliance of parties, a candidate included in an electoral list, an authorized representative, or a member of the corresponding precinct electoral commission,” the statement said.

The Central Electoral Commission also reported that the total number of voters registered on electoral rolls was 2,507,216, while the total number of participants in the vote was 1,477,736, representing a turnout of 58.94%.

According to CEC Chairman Vahagn Hovakimyan, the number of invalid ballots was 17,097.

Additional election statistics released by the commission include:

• Total self-adhesive stamps supplied to precinct commissions: 2,605,100
• Total numbered voting coupons supplied to precinct commissions: 204,000
• Total printed slips received from voters through technical equipment: 1,474,041
• Total numbered voting coupons received from voters: 2,368
• Total coupons received from voters: 1,476,409
• Unused numbered coupons: 201,123
• Unused self-adhesive stamps: 1,128,918

According to the latest preliminary results, Civil Contract received 49.825% of the vote, Strong Armenia 23.281%, the Armenia Alliance 9.934%, and Prosperous Armenia 3.996%. Under these updated figures, the Prosperous Armenia Party does not surpass the 4% threshold required for parliamentary representation.
