Armenia did not pay CSTO membership dues in 2025

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated during discussions of the annual report on the execution of the 2025 state budget in the National Assembly that Armenia did not pay its membership contribution to the CSTO for 2025.

“For a simple reason: we have not participated in the organization’s activities,” he said, according to Sputnik Armenia.

According to Mirzoyan, Armenia pays membership contributions to 113 international organizations, programs, and conventions. In 2025, payments were made to 101 organizations, while the remaining bodies did not submit the relevant requests.

This is the second consecutive year that Armenia has not transferred membership dues to the CSTO.

In February 2024, it became known that Yerevan had frozen its participation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization. On March 12, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan did not rule out Armenia’s withdrawal from the organization if it failed to answer Armenia’s question regarding the CSTO’s area of responsibility on Armenian territory.

The CSTO later responded that it considers its area of responsibility in Armenia to be the country’s sovereign territory. On June 14, Pashinyan stated in the National Assembly that the next logical step could be withdrawal from the organization.

On September 18, he said Armenia had reached a point of no return in its relations with the CSTO, arguing that the organization had created threats to the country’s sovereignty. Later, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov maintained that the CSTO poses no threat and that its purpose is to protect the sovereignty of its member states.
