Mashalian meets Turkish president in Ankara![]() June 9, 2026 - 12:11 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople Archbishop Sahak Mashalian met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on June 8 to discuss issues of interest to the Armenian community. The meeting was also attended by Turkish Justice Minister Akin Gurlek, Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, and Member of Parliament Sevan Sivaçioğlu, Armenpress reported. The sides exchanged views on the progress of restoration work at the Holy Forty Martyrs Church in Iskenderun and Saint Sarkis Church in Diyarbakir. Archbishop Sahak Mashalian, on behalf of the Armenian community, expressed gratitude to the Turkish president for his attention and support, and wished him good health and success. The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington.
