UN acknowledges receipt of Arthur Osipyan letter

PanARMENIAN.Net - The United Nations office has confirmed receipt of a letter sent by Artsakh public figure Arthur Osipyan, who has been on a hunger strike for more than 20 days, Aysor.am reports.

“We hereby acknowledge receipt of your letter dated June 3, 2026, and would like to inform you that it has been brought to the attention of relevant partners within the United Nations system, including the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs in New York, as well as, where appropriate, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva,” the response states.

Arthur Osipyan, an Artsakh activist who was detained and placed in custody following an altercation with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and subsequently launched a hunger strike, appealed to the international community regarding the protection of his rights.

Osipyan was detained on May 18, 2026, following an argument with Nikol Pashinyan. The incident occurred during an election campaign event when Osipyan approached the prime minister and criticized him.

Pashinyan responded with harsh language, saying: “... Get lost, you lackey. ‘I’m Arthur Osipyan,’ you should have died in place of our boys. ‘I’m Arthur Osipyan,’ you looting animals. Why are you alive if you're talking about another five thousand victims, you scoundrel?”
