Court closes apple-throwing case against pensioner![]() June 13, 2026 - 11:23 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Court of Cassation has refused to accept for proceedings an appeal filed in the case of 74-year-old Artsakh native Albert Arstamyan, who had been accused of throwing an apple in the direction of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, according to A1+. The appeal had been submitted by the prosecution, which challenged the acquittal. Both the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction and the Criminal Court of Appeal had previously acquitted Arstamyan, who was charged with hooliganism for throwing the apple toward Pashinyan, citing the absence of a criminal offense. Albert Arstamyan stated that his act of throwing an apple toward Nikol Pashinyan from the balcony of a ninth-floor apartment at 2 Rubinyants Street in Yerevan’s Kanaker-Zeytun district on August 23, 2024, was an expression of political dissatisfaction. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
