Armenia reaffirms support for UN programs![]() June 13, 2026 - 15:14 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Paruyr Hovhannisyan, participated in the annual session of the Executive Boards of several UN bodies, reaffirming Armenia’s support for United Nations programs. In his remarks, Ambassador Hovhannisyan highly praised the work of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for their efforts in sustainable development, resilience building, demographic policy, the empowerment of women and girls, humanitarian response, and support for vulnerable groups. He reiterated Armenia’s support for the mandates of both organizations and emphasized the importance of ensuring predictable financing, effective implementation at the national level, and maintaining continuous cooperation with program countries. Addressing discussions taking place within the framework of the UN80 initiative, Ambassador Hovhannisyan stated that reforms should contribute to greater efficiency and stronger impact at the national level while preserving existing mandates, professional expertise, and operational activities. He stressed that any transition process must avoid disrupting the implementation of ongoing programs and must ensure that resources and management capacities continue to serve their intended objectives and outcomes. Ambassador Hovhannisyan also reaffirmed Armenia’s support for a member state-led process that is transparent, inclusive, and evidence-based. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
