Armenia, Sweden review cooperation agenda![]() June 16, 2026 - 13:40 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard discussed both bilateral issues and the prospects for deepening Armenia-European Union cooperation during a meeting held in Luxembourg. The Swedish foreign minister congratulated Ararat Mirzoyan on the successful conduct of parliamentary elections in line with high democratic standards and on the election victory. The two ministers expressed satisfaction with the high level of political dialogue between Armenia and Sweden, emphasizing the importance of ongoing efforts to expand mutually beneficial cooperation across various sectors. They also discussed democratic reforms being implemented in Armenia and Sweden’s support in strengthening the country’s economic resilience. Regional developments were likewise among the topics addressed during the meeting. The meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council taking place in Luxembourg is also expected to discuss measures to support Armenia. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas stated before the session began that support for Armenia would be on the agenda. She added that the EU sees growing pressure from Russia. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
