Wings of Unity files court appeal over CEC ruling

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Wings of Unity party has filed a lawsuit with Armenia’s Administrative Court seeking to have a Central Electoral Commission (CEC) decision regarding the National Assembly elections declared invalid. The information was announced in a party statement.

“Remaining faithful to its declared position, the Wings of Unity party has just submitted a claim to the Administrative Court of the Republic of Armenia demanding that CEC Decision No. 258-A of June 14 be declared invalid,” the statement said.

Late on June 11, the CEC decided to invalidate the voting results from polling stations No. 10/51 and 35/65. As a result, the Prosperous Armenia Party (PPA) lost a total of 213 votes, reducing its chances of surpassing the 4% threshold required to enter parliament.

On June 14, the final results of the June 7 parliamentary elections were published. Civil Contract received 726,819 votes, or 49.7456%; Strong Armenia received 340,006 votes, or 23.2710%; and the Hayastan Alliance received 144,983 votes, or 9.9231%. The Prosperous Armenia Party failed to clear the 4% electoral threshold and will not enter parliament, having received 58,287 votes, or 3.9893%.

Civil Contract will hold 64 seats (including three seats allocated to representatives of national minorities), the Strong Armenia Party will hold 29 seats (including one seat for an Assyrian representative), and the Hayastan Alliance will hold 12 seats.
