Former MP placed under administrative supervision

PanARMENIAN.Net - A court has approved administrative supervision as an alternative preventive measure against former National Assembly deputy Ruben Hakobyan, according to the Investigative Committee, Factor.am reports.

On the morning of June 19, the former Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) lawmaker wrote on his Facebook page that authorities had come to arrest him.

Later, the Investigative Committee issued a statement saying that, within criminal proceedings being examined by the Main Department for the Investigation of Crimes Against the State, the Foundations of the Constitutional Order and Public Security, apparent factual evidence had been obtained indicating that former National Assembly deputy R.H. had, through the use of information and communication technologies, made statements aimed at inciting and promoting hatred, discrimination, intolerance and hostility. According to the statement, this was confirmed by the conclusions of an expert examination.

By a decision of the supervising prosecutor, public criminal prosecution has been initiated against R.H. under Article 329, Part 2, Clause 3 of the Criminal Code (public speech aimed at inciting or promoting hatred, discrimination, intolerance or hostility, as well as distributing materials or objects for that purpose), involving three separate episodes.
