Armenia wins Billie Jean King Cup group

PanARMENIAN.Net - At the Billie Jean King Cup in San Marino, Armenia’s women’s national team defeated Montenegro 3–0 in the final round of Group III competition.

In singles matches, Ani Amiraghyan claimed a 6–2, 4–6, 6–4 victory, while Elina Avanesyan won 4–6, 6–4, 6–0. In doubles, Maria Azizyan and Alina Soghomonyan defeated their opponents 2–1 (6:3, 3:6, 10:8), Factor.am reported.

In previous rounds, Armenia also recorded 3–0 victories over the national teams of Azerbaijan and Albania.

By winning its group, the Armenian team earned the right to compete in a promotion playoff for a place in the Europe/Africa Zone Group II next year.

Armenia’s opponent in the promotion playoff will be Estonia.
