Russia warns against pressure on regional integration

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov has stated that Moscow sees attempts to undermine integration organizations involving Russia in the context of developments related to Armenia.

“We see persistent attempts by supporters of the rules-based order to strike at integration associations involving Russia. At the same time, illusory ideas are being promoted suggesting that it is possible to revise the history and geography of peoples who have lived side by side for centuries and have always helped one another,” Ushakov said, according to RIA Novosti.

Ushakov made the remarks during the Primakov Readings conference while commenting on developments surrounding Armenia and issues related to regional cooperation.

Russia has introduced restrictions on the import of a range of Armenian products. In particular, imports of Jermuk mineral water, flowers and certain alcoholic beverages from Armenia have been banned. Restrictions have also affected several agricultural products, including tomatoes, cucumbers and strawberries.

Since June 2, Russia has restricted the import and transit to other Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states of Armenian cherries, apricots, peaches, plums, grapes and other stone fruits. Since June 3, Moscow has also imposed restrictions on imports of eggplants, potatoes and dried fruits originating from and exported by Armenia.
