Papikyan observes Eagle Partner 2026 drills![]() June 24, 2026 - 11:10 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The practical phase of the Eagle Partner 2026 military exercise has been conducted in Armenia with the participation of servicemembers from Armenia, the United States, France, and Greece, the Ministry of Defense reported. On June 23, Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, accompanied by First Deputy Defense Minister and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Edward Asryan, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Armenia David Allen, French Ambassador to Armenia Olivier Decottignies, Greek Ambassador to Armenia Christos Sofianopoulos, Chief of Staff of the Kansas National Guard Joint Staff Brigadier General Jason Knobbe, Chief of Staff of Land Operations in Europe Colonel Paul Courtieux, senior military officers, as well as foreign military attachés and representatives accredited in Armenia, observed the progress of the Eagle Partner 2026 exercise at the Zar training center. The exercise is being held as part of preparations for participation in international peacekeeping missions. The invited guests followed the practical stage of the exercise, familiarized themselves with the ongoing training activities and observed the actions of units involved in peacekeeping mission preparations. The exercise leadership then presented Defense Minister Suren Papikyan and the guests with an overview of the work completed, training objectives and results achieved. “Within the framework of the Eagle Partner 2026 exercise, special attention was paid to improving the professional skills required for international peacekeeping missions, enhancing interoperability among units, and developing the ability to respond rapidly and effectively in various situations,” the statement said. The Eagle Partner 2026 exercise, involving personnel from the Armenian Armed Forces Peacekeeping Brigade (250 participants), U.S. Army Europe and Africa and the Kansas National Guard (58 participants), France (24 participants) and Greece (11 participants), is being held from June 17 to June 25. As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed. David Vardanyan is the son of former Karabakh leader Ruben Vardanyan who who is currently imprisoned in Azerbaijan. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has met with Stephan Schütz, Executive Partner at Gerkan, Marg and Partners. The number of state universities will be reduced from 23 to 8 by 2030, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan has said. Partner news |
