Wings of Unity urges parties to join CC case

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Wings of Unity party has called on the other parties that participated in the elections to join the case currently under review by the Constitutional Court as third parties, after the court did not consider its procedural motion.

According to the party’s statement, it learned today that during its June 23 procedural session, the Constitutional Court addressed the party's motion concerning the involvement of ten political parties as third parties in the consolidated case seeking to invalidate the National Assembly election results.

The court stated:

"...Under Part 5 of Article 77 of the Constitutional Law on the Constitutional Court, political parties or electoral alliances may participate in Constitutional Court proceedings as third parties either on the basis of their own application or at the initiative of the Constitutional Court.

Therefore, we inform you that the Constitutional Court does not consider such motions submitted by one political party concerning another political party."

The party said the essence of its motion was for the Constitutional Court to exercise its own authority to involve third parties, since the decision to be adopted in the pending applications concerns all political forces that took part in the elections.

Given that the Constitutional Court did not consider its motion, the party appealed to the Bright Armenia Party, Armenian Meritocratic Party, Against All Party, Christian Democratic Revival Party, Armenian National Congress Party, Republic Party, National Democratic Pole Party, Kochari National Revival and Awakening of the Nation Party, and the Reformists Party, urging them to join the proceedings as third parties and "stand up for the citizens who voted for them," the statement said.

On June 14, the final results of the June 7 parliamentary elections were published. Civil Contract received 726,819 votes, or 49.7456%; Strong Armenia won 340,006 votes, or 23.2710%; and the Hayastan Alliance secured 144,983 votes, or 9.9231%. The Prosperous Armenia Party failed to pass the 4% electoral threshold, receiving 58,287 votes, or 3.9893%.

Civil Contract will hold 64 seats (including three reserved for national minority representatives), Strong Armenia will have 29 seats (including one seat for an Assyrian representative), and the Hayastan Alliance will receive 12 seats.
