Israeli minister backs Armenian Genocide recognition

PanARMENIAN.Net - Israel's Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has announced that he will submit a draft resolution to the Israeli government calling for official recognition of the Armenian Genocide. He made the announcement in a post on X.

"At the next meeting of the Israeli government, I will present a draft resolution for the Israeli government's official recognition of the Armenian Genocide. Recognizing the genocide committed against the Armenian people during the final years of the Ottoman Empire is both a moral and a historical obligation. We must also firmly condemn any denial, minimization, or distortion of the historical truth," Saar wrote.

The draft resolution will subsequently be submitted to the Knesset for a vote.

In August 2025, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he recognizes the fact of the Armenian Genocide.
