Konjoryan seeks parliament vice speaker post![]() June 29, 2026 - 17:30 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Hayk Konjoryan has entered the race within the Civil Contract party for the position of Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Factor.am reported. Konjoryan had also previously sought the party's nomination for the post of Speaker of the National Assembly. The other contenders for the deputy speaker position are Vahagn Aleksanyan, Arman Yeghoyan, Arusyak Julhakyan, and Alkhas Ghazaryan. Civil Contract is scheduled to hold a party meeting on June 29, during which it will decide who will become its official nominees for the deputy speaker posts. The Speaker of the National Assembly has three deputies, two of whom are nominated by the ruling majority and one by the opposition. The opposition deputy speaker's position is expected to go to the Strong Armenia faction if it accepts its parliamentary mandates. The Civil Contract board has approved the nomination of Ruben Rubinyan for the position of Speaker of the National Assembly. On June 14, the final results of the June 7 parliamentary elections were published. The Civil Contract party received 726,819 votes, or 49.7456%; Strong Armenia won 340,006 votes, or 23.2710%; and the Hayastan Alliance received 144,983 votes, or 9.9231%. The Prosperous Armenia Party failed to pass the 4% electoral threshold, receiving 58,287 votes, or 3.9893%, and did not enter parliament. Civil Contract will hold 64 seats, including three allocated to representatives of national minorities. Strong Armenia will have 29 seats, including one reserved for an Assyrian representative, while the Hayastan Alliance will hold 12 seats. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
