Pashinyan rejects reaction to Israel Genocide recognition

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian government does not intend to issue an official response to the Israeli government's decision to recognize the Armenian Genocide, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said after a meeting of the Civil Contract party board.

"We see no need to respond because avoiding the weaponization of the Armenian Genocide issue is in Armenia's interests," Pashinyan said, according to Aysor.am .

On June 28, the Israeli government unanimously approved an initiative submitted by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, officially recognizing the Armenian Genocide. Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he supported the initiative to recognize the Armenian Genocide.

"It is never too late to do the right thing. This horrific genocide, which took place more than 100 years ago and whose historical facts are truly indisputable, claimed the lives of one and a half million people and led to the destruction of an ancient cultural and historical heritage," Sa'ar said.

Turkey commented on the Israeli government's decision to recognize the Armenian Genocide, describing it as politically motivated. Azerbaijan said it was "seriously concerned" by Israel's recognition of the Armenian Genocide and called on Israel to reconsider its decision.
