Manavazyan nominated for Civil Contract faction head![]() July 3, 2026 - 11:06 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Arusyak Manavazyan has won the internal vote to become the Civil Contract parliamentary faction's nominee for leader after a secret ballot. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the outcome during a briefing with reporters following the faction meeting. “Dear journalists, following discussions and a secret ballot, Arusyak Manavazyan was elected as the Civil Contract faction's nominee for leader,” Pashinyan said, according to Armenpress. Manavazyan declined to disclose either the number of votes she received or the margin separating her from the other contender, Artur Hovhannisyan, http://Factor.am reported. “Thank you for this great vote of confidence. As in previous elections, the ballot was secret, and I received the support of the faction,” she said. Asked whether Hovhannisyan had left disappointed, Manavazyan dismissed the suggestion. “He congratulated me, and we maintain excellent working relations. This was an internal party election, and there are no hard feelings,” she said. Manavazyan also noted that the prime minister had not spoken with her before the vote. She added that the election of the faction's secretary has not yet been discussed. A few days earlier, Hayk Konjoryan and Vahagn Aleksanyan were selected as nominees for Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly. At a Civil Contract executive board meeting on June 25, Ruben Rubinyan was nominated for Speaker of the National Assembly following a secret ballot. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
