Rubinyan targets Strong Armenia over mandate decision

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia's National Assembly Vice Speaker Ruben Rubinyan, who has been nominated to lead the parliament formed following the June 7 parliamentary elections, said the Strong Armenia alliance is attempting to avoid justice by deciding to take its parliamentary mandates.

Speaking in a Facebook livestream, Rubinyan said:

“The Kaluga group will take the mandates so they can use them in an attempt to avoid justice. It will not work.

Everyone involved in election fraud, vote-buying, criminal activity, corruption, and simply agents of various calibers will be punished, down to the last person. As for those who, over the past years or months, have allowed themselves to cross every boundary of basic human decency with their rhetoric, we are especially looking forward to seeing them in the National Assembly, where we will politically destroy them, again down to the last person.”

Earlier, Strong Armenia alliance representative Narek Karapetyan announced that the alliance had decided to accept the parliamentary seats it won in Armenia's June 7 parliamentary elections. He said the alliance intends to combine parliamentary activity with street protests in an effort to achieve political change.

The Constitutional Court rejected the appeals filed by seven political forces. Under the final election results, the seats in parliament are allocated as follows: Civil Contract – 64 seats, Strong Armenia – 29 seats, and the Hayastan alliance – 12 seats.
