Petrosyan rejects Karapetyan's remarks as “baseless”![]() July 8, 2026 - 19:02 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Romanos Petrosyan, the interim manager of Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA), has described company owner Samvel Karapetyan's remarks about the utility's performance during a July 7 press briefing as "baseless." In a Facebook post, Petrosyan presented figures that he said refute Karapetyan's statements. "During yesterday's conversation with media representatives, the current owner of ENA made at least three major false claims in response to questions about the company's operations. S.K.: 'They have completed only about 100 new connections instead of 3,000-3,500.' (Apparently referring to the entire period of interim management.) Fact: In the first half of 2026 alone, ENA connected 4,103 new customers to the network, averaging 31 new connections per day. S.K.: 'They are unable to procure equipment, which is why they cannot implement investment programs.' Fact: Since the beginning of the interim administration, over the past 11 months, ENA has purchased electrical equipment and other inventory worth about 14.5 billion drams exclusively through open and transparent tenders. The company's warehouses currently contain materials worth more than 27 billion drams intended for the investment program and routine network maintenance. S.K.: 'Power outages have increased by more than 40 percent.' Fact: During March, April and May of this year, the average duration of power outages improved by approximately 36.7 percent. These figures have also been officially submitted to the Public Services Regulatory Commission. P.S. This is the kind of unfortunate statistics and baseless assessments we are dealing with," Petrosyan wrote. Strong Armenia party leader Samvel Karapetyan had earlier commented on the situation at ENA, saying: "They are paying off $50 million in financial obligations because they have no other option. Instead of modernizing the network and making new connections, they have completed only about 100 new connections instead of 3,000-3,500. That is why this money became available. It did not take much intelligence to repay bank obligations; the real challenge was to modernize, invest and make new connections. They have completely failed in that regard." Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. Partner news |
