Ioannisyan questions doctor's dismissal![]() July 13, 2026 - 18:36 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Daniel Ioannisyan, coordinator of the Union of Informed Citizens and a member of Independent Observer, said the dismissal of a physician who publicly argued with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the election campaign appears to constitute political persecution. According to Ioannisyan, all officials responsible for the decision should be identified so they can face legal accountability or, at the very least, public condemnation. “What does it mean to dismiss the head of a department because of a ‘staff reduction’? How can the department continue to operate if the position of its head has been eliminated? Who do you think you're fooling?” he wrote. Earlier, it was reported that obstetrician-gynecologist and candidate of medical sciences Arpine Soghoyan had been dismissed from her position after 21 years of work. According to her family, the official reason given was the elimination of her post due to a lack of funding. During the election campaign, Soghoyan publicly confronted Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, accusing him of “stealing” her homeland and “destroying an entire generation.” Her brother, Lieutenant Colonel and military doctor Hrant Papikyan, went missing during the 2020 44-day war. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. Partner news |
