Ex-Yerevan mayor faces 76.8 million dram claim

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia's Anti-Corruption Court has fully granted a lawsuit filed by prosecutors against former Yerevan mayor Gagik Beglaryan, ordering compensation for damage caused to the municipal community, the Prosecutor General's Office said.

The lawsuit was submitted on September 3, 2025, by the Prosecutor's Office of Yerevan's Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts, seeking the recovery of 76.822 million drams in damages on behalf of the Yerevan community.

On September 9, 2025, the court accepted the claim for consideration and, at the prosecutor's request, imposed a freeze on Beglaryan's property in the amount of the claim.

According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the lawsuit was based on factual findings established during one of the criminal proceedings.

In its July 7, 2026 ruling, the Anti-Corruption Court upheld the claim in full.

Once the judgment enters into legal force, 76.822 million drams will be recovered from Beglaryan in favor of the Yerevan community as compensation for the damage.
