Deputy PM calls France Armenia’s trusted friend

PanARMENIAN.Net - Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan said France has always been a trusted friend of Armenia in remarks delivered at a reception at the French Embassy marking France’s National Day.

“On the occasion of France’s National Day, on behalf of the Armenian government and myself, I warmly congratulate you, esteemed Ambassador Decottignies, and through you extend our best wishes to the friendly people and government of France.

“More than two centuries ago, the great French Revolution took place on this day. It gave humanity the universal values of liberty, equality and fraternity. To this day, they continue to inspire peoples to defend their sovereignty and build just and dignified societies,” he said.

Grigoryan added that Armenia also shares these principles and regards them as important guidelines for the development of its statehood. France, he said, has consistently stood as a trusted friend of Armenia. “We gratefully value our solidarity.”

“President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to Armenia in May this year, with its substantive and extensive agenda, became a historic event. During those days, we witnessed a warm, nationwide welcome on the streets of Yerevan and Gyumri. It was the best expression of the trust and mutual respect established between our peoples. During the president’s visit, a joint declaration on strategic partnership was signed. New horizons for long-term cooperation were outlined.

“We also attach importance to France’s support for Armenia’s rapprochement with the European Union.

“Mr. Ambassador, it is our sincere wish to see France continue its progress and prosperity. We also hope Armenian-French partnership will grow stronger year after year for the well-being of our peoples. Long live France, long live Armenia, long live Armenian-French friendship,” the deputy prime minister said.
