The decision provides funding for the acquisition of land plots required for the construction of a UEFA-standard football stadium in the administrative territory of Geghahovit, a settlement in the Ijevan community of Tavush Province. Armenia is scheduled to host the 2029 FIFA U-20 World Cup. To that end, the football federations of Armenia and Georgia submitted a joint bid, which has already been approved. One of the key requirements for hosting the tournament is the availability in Armenia of a stadium that meets UEFA Category 4 standards.
