Armenia approves EU fish export registration rules![]() July 18, 2026 - 14:05 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian government has approved the registration procedure required for exporting fish and fish products to European Union member states through the EU's TRACES system. Registration will now remain valid indefinitely. The Food Safety Inspectorate (SSFS) announced that the government has formally adopted the registration rules for Armenian companies intending to export fish and fish products to the European Union through the TRACES (Trade Control and Expert System) platform. According to the agency, registration in the TRACES system is now granted without an expiration date. How to apply Applicants must submit an application and the required documentation to the Food Safety Inspectorate. Documents may be sent electronically to snund@ssfs.am or ssfs@ssfs.am, or submitted in paper form. Registration process The submitted documents are reviewed within up to five working days. This is followed by an on-site inspection and sampling at the applicant's facilities, which takes 10 to 15 working days, to verify compliance with both Armenian and European Union requirements. Approval If the business meets all requirements, its information is forwarded to the European Commission for approval. After confirmation, the applicant receives a TRACES registration number. Food Safety Inspectorate head Tigran Petrosyan has stated that 97% of Armenia's fish farming sector is ready to export to the European Union. He also said that one company has already formally submitted a written application to begin exporting fish and fish products to EU countries. On July 20, four experts from European Union member states are expected to arrive in Armenia to monitor the procedures during preparation of the first export shipment and provide the necessary technical guidance. Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”. Armenia will loan 2.9 billion drams to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), according to a draft government decision. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has “strongly condemned” Armenia’s decision.
