Armenia seeks stronger strategic ties with UK![]() July 21, 2026 - 13:08 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has congratulated Andy Burnham on assuming the office of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. In a post published on X, Pashinyan said he looks forward to working closely with the new British leader. “I look forward to close cooperation to deepen the Armenia–United Kingdom strategic partnership and strengthen the friendship between our peoples,” the prime minister wrote. Andy Burnham has officially taken office as the U.K.'s prime minister and delivered his first address outside 10 Downing Street after meeting King Charles III. He also said that his first international phone calls as prime minister would be with U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. King Charles III formally invited Burnham to form a new government. The 56-year-old former Mayor of Greater Manchester was elected leader of the Labour Party, succeeding Keir Starmer. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
