New parliament convenes on August 2

PanARMENIAN.Net - The first session of Armenia’s newly elected National Assembly, formed following the June 7, 2026, regular parliamentary elections, will convene on August 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., Central Election Commission Chair Vahagn Hovakimyan announced.

“Pursuant to Article 100(1) of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Armenia ‘Electoral Code’ and Article 32(1) of the Constitutional Law ‘Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly,’ which provides that, ‘Following regular elections, the first session of the newly elected National Assembly shall be convened on the day the term of the previous National Assembly expires, at 10:00 a.m., as announced by the Chair of the Central Election Commission.’

I hereby announce that the first session of the National Assembly elected in the regular elections of June 7, 2026, will be convened on August 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.,” Hovakimyan wrote.

August 2 falls on a Sunday.

According to the final election results, the parties entering parliament are: Civil Contract with 64 seats, Strong Armenia with 29 seats, and the Hayastan Alliance with 12 seats.
