Ghazinyan hearing set for July 24

PanARMENIAN.Net - A court hearing in the case of David Ghazinyan and others, elected to parliament from the Strong Armenia alliance of political parties, has been scheduled for July 24, according to the Anti-Corruption Court, Factor.am reported.

Ghazinyan remains in pretrial detention in a case involving alleged vote-buying.

Speaking to reporters outside the Central Election Commission on July 22, Aram Vardevanyan, who also became a member of parliament from the Strong Armenia alliance, said the defense had filed a motion seeking the immediate removal of the preventive measure imposed on Ghazinyan. According to Vardevanyan, Ghazinyan, having acquired the status of a member of parliament, cannot legally remain in detention.

According to the indictment, David Ghazinyan, as a parliamentary candidate representing the Strong Armenia alliance of political parties, acting on behalf of the alliance, allegedly arranged for vote-buying ahead of the regular elections to the 9th National Assembly scheduled for June 7, 2026. The prosecution alleges that, in exchange for votes in favor of the Strong Armenia alliance, he acted in prior agreement with Arsen Melikyan, who allegedly coordinated the activities of the alliance's office located at 73, Building 29, V. Papazyan Street in Yerevan, alliance supporter Arman Eduardi Sargsyan, and other unidentified individuals, as part of an organized group to distribute election bribes.
