Pashinyan, Merz discuss Armenia-Azerbaijan peace

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a phone conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The two leaders exchanged views on current regional and international issues.

They discussed the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Both sides underscored the importance of achieving stable and lasting peace in the region, according to the Armenian Prime Minister's Office.

Prime Minister Pashinyan and Chancellor Merz also reviewed prospects for the continued development of bilateral cooperation between Armenia and Germany, as well as the further deepening of the Armenia-European Union partnership.

The phone conversation between the Armenian prime minister and the German chancellor followed Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Germany. During a joint press conference, Merz said, "The South Caucasus is becoming increasingly important as a region linking Europe and Asia." He added that "new transport and trade corridors create significant economic potential, and Germany wants to benefit from that potential."

Aliyev said that Baku is preparing to increase gas supplies to Germany, provided a number of preconditions are met.
