Araratcement to get temporary manager in July, minister says

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan visited the Ararat cement plant on July 23, reviewing production, available capacity and ongoing work.

The facility employs about 1,000 people and has an installed annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons.

During the tour, Papoyan said the Ararat cement plant had been placed under the management of Armenia’s Economy Ministry. He said the ministry would take all necessary steps to ensure the plant operates at full capacity, without interruption and efficiently. According to the minister, an interim manager for the company will be appointed in July in accordance with the established procedure.

“Until then, I urge all company employees to carry out their duties conscientiously and responsibly. The plant must not suspend operations; on the contrary, normal production must be maintained and work efficiency improved,” the minister said.

Papoyan also reviewed the problems facing the plant and instructed officials to examine them comprehensively, take the necessary steps toward resolving them and ensure uninterrupted continuation of production.

The Prosecutor General’s Office has reported violations in Araratcement CJSC’s acquisition of the Golden Key health resort. According to the statement, the resort, valued at 44.39 million drams, was sold for 6.5 million drams in 2003, while the company, according to prosecutors, submitted falsified documents regarding fulfillment of its contractual obligations.

The Prosecutor General’s Office, while examining Araratcement CJSC’s mining activities within its authority to protect state and municipal interests, identified possible violations related to subsoil-use permits and fulfillment of corresponding obligations.
