Paris talks focus on Armenia’s European market access

PanARMENIAN.Net - During talks in Paris, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan and French Minister Delegate for Europe Benjamin Haddad addressed prospects for advancing Armenia-France strategic cooperation. The agenda also included opportunities related to Armenia’s access to the European market.

Both officials welcomed the current pace of bilateral relations. They exchanged views on joint measures that could give further impetus to the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Another part of the meeting focused on prospects for broadening and strengthening Armenia-EU cooperation.

Kostanyan also updated his French counterpart on developments in the region, outlining efforts designed to further reinforce the peace established in the South Caucasus.

Russia has introduced restrictions affecting imports of Armenian goods. The measures include a ban on shipments from Armenia of Jermuk mineral water, flowers and certain alcoholic beverages. Several agricultural products, among them tomatoes, cucumbers and strawberries, have also been subject to restrictions. From June 2, Russia has restricted the import of Armenian cherries, apricots, peaches, plums, grapes and other stone fruits, as well as their transit to other Eurasian Economic Union member states. Beginning June 3, restrictions were also imposed on imports of eggplants, potatoes and dried fruits originating in and exported from Armenia.
