Prosecutor seeks AMD 1 billion bail for Ghazinyan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Public prosecutor Arthur Danielyan has asked the court to change the detention measure imposed on Strong Armenia Party lawmaker Davit Ghazinyan and set bail at 1 billion drams. He also requested a ban on leaving and administrative supervision using electronic devices.

The first court hearing in Ghazinyan’s case is underway, Sputnik Armenia reports.

Danielyan said Ghazinyan, who has already been elected to Armenia’s ninth National Assembly, cannot yet invoke parliamentary immunity. His mandate will formally begin on August 2, when the newly elected National Assembly holds its first sitting.

Davit Ghazinyan was detained on June 18. According to the defense, the criminal case concerns an accusation of preparing to give a bribe. His lawyer has maintained that the prosecution of Ghazinyan is politically motivated.
