Government earmarks funds for Sevan bike tour

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian government plans to allocate nearly 24 million drams from the state budget's reserve fund to organize the Around Sevan amateur cycling tour, which will be held under the patronage of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports has submitted the relevant draft decision to the government, according to Factor.am .

Under the proposal, the event is scheduled to take place in August 2026 under the prime minister's patronage. It will be a two-day cycling tour open to participants aged 18 and older.

Organizers expect to attract around 170 participants from different regions and cities across Armenia.

The document notes that the TOUR DE SEVAN 2024 cycling event received positive feedback from participants, leading to the decision to continue the initiative and organize a new tour.

According to the explanatory note, the event aims to promote the development and wider participation in cycling, encourage a healthy lifestyle, boost sports tourism, and present Lake Sevan as a venue for international sporting events.

The proposed funding would be allocated to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports under the Mass Sports program from the government's reserve fund.
