Pashinyan jokes about Moody's assessment

PanARMENIAN.Net - Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan commented on Moody's revised outlook for Armenia's sovereign credit rating, drawing attention to the agency's assessment of the country's domestic political stability.

During a government meeting, Nikol Pashinyan referred to Moody's latest assessment of Armenia's sovereign credit rating and commented on the agency's evaluation of the country's domestic political stability.

"By the way, this is a very interesting observation. It turns out we have domestic political stability — and apparently I wasn't aware of it," he said.

In its July 28 review, Moody's revised the outlook on Armenia's sovereign credit rating from stable to positive, while affirming the country's long-term sovereign rating at Ba3.

According to Moody's, the improved outlook is driven by several key factors: reduced geopolitical and political risks resulting from the lower likelihood of a large-scale military confrontation with Azerbaijan, progress in normalizing relations with Turkey, diversification of external partnerships through deeper cooperation with the U.S. and the European Union, and domestic political stability.

Moody's also said Armenia's medium-term economic growth prospects have improved, forecasting growth of 5-5.5% in 2026-2027, supported by resilient domestic demand, increased investment, continued expansion of the services sector, and higher government spending.
