Ameriabank ranks first by authorized capital in Armenia's banking systemJuly 22, 2009 - 17:20 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - To date, Ameriabank by the size of its authorized capital takes first place in the banking system of Armenia, Tigran Jrbashyan, Director of Development of Ameriabank told journalists today in Yerevan. In respect to the aggregate capital, the bank's share in the total banking system of Armenia is 8.1 per cent and by its aggregate capital Ameriabank is in fourth place, Jrbashyan said. However, he noted that by its assets the bank holds 7.53 per cent of the entire banking system of Armenia. «Trends of this growth are increasing every quarter, and in terms of its assets, Ameniabank is the fifth largest in the specific weight of the banking system," he said. "In respect to our liabilities if at the end of the first quarter we were at the seventh place, during the second quarter of 2009 we went up to the fifth position," he said. Jrbashyan noted that this was primarily due to the growth of certain liabilities of the bank, and the fact that the whole banking system, particularly major banks, recorded a decline in their liabilities. Tigran Jrbashyan expressed the hope that the third quarter will be good for the bank.
