Charge to green activist Mariam Sukhudyan aggravatedAugust 18, 2009 - 17:49 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Criminal investigation department of Erebouni community of RA Police changed the article of the charge filed to Mariam Sukhudyan, activist of the SOS Teghut youth green movement, within two days. On August 13 Mariam Sukhudyan received a summons to an interrogation dated on 15 August as an accused. The summons mentioned the article of the charge, libel, in accordance with Part 1, Article 135 of the Criminal Code of RA. Nevertheless, as it turned out on August 15 she is charged under another article: Clause 3, Part 2, Article 333 of the Criminal Code of RA, i.e. false crime reporting aggravated with mercenary purposes. This charge prescribes heavier sentence that the previous charge, imprisonment for the term of up to 5 years. The new charge is mentioned in the new summons dated on August 15 that invites Mariam Sukhudyan to an interrogation on August 19. The case is initiated on the basis of TV program of the First Cannel dated on November 13, 2008 where a pupils of the Nubarashen Boarding School told about sexual harassment by the teacher. Mariam Sukhudyan believes that she is persecuted for participation in the SOS-Teghut campaign aimed at salvation of the Teghut forest.
