Armenia takes part in Global UN Model ConferenceSeptember 16, 2009 - 19:46 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - In a press conference held today, UN Office in Armenia represented Armenian delegation which participated in Global UN Model Conference organized on August 2-7 in Geneva.First Global UN Model Conference was attended by 9 students from different Armenian universities. The conference on" The Millennium Development Goals: Lifting the Bottom Billion out of Poverty" brought together young people from 60 countries. Model UN conferences are convened every year in over 70 states with participation of 1.5 million young individuals. During the conference in Geneva, Armenian delegates acted as diplomats discussing international problems and adopting and drafting relevant resolutions. "Youth represent a top priority for the United Nations and, I am convinced, this youth gathering was an excellent opportunity for you to develop your leadership and communications skills that you will use throughout your lives, and why not as part of the UN family," said Resident Coordinator of UN Armenia Office Ms. Consuelo Vidal. Armenian delegates participated in Global UN Model Conference under the patronage of President Serzh Sargsyan, RA Government's Civil Aviation General Department, UN Public Information Office in Armenia and Armenian UN Association. At the end of conference, UN Public Information Office representative Maria Dotsenko, Head of Civil Aviation Department Sahak Hakobyan and President Serzh Sargsyan's representative received literary awards.
