"During 8 months of 2009, 447 cases of running down accident were registered, 86 resulting in fatalities. Pedestrians are to blame for 50% of these cases," Sargsyan stated. AMD 3000 will be imposed for pedestrian violations. In case of non-payment, the violator will be taken to police department for personality identification. The fine can be paid within a month, otherwise the sum will be increased threefold and juridically enforced. Drivers failing to yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway will be fined for AMD 20 000.
