Director Harutyun Khachatryan dissatisfied with authorities' indifference to his success

PanARMENIAN.Net - Director Harutyun Khachatryan's "Border" was recognized as the best film in Golden Orange international film festival of young directors. Another film recognized as the best among the 12 films screened during the festival Paper Soldier (director: Aleksey German Jr.).



In a press conference today, Harutyun Khachatryan expressed dissatisfaction with authorities and population's indifference to his success. "No one congratulated me on receiving 6 awards for just one film. And that happens in a country where only 1 film is shot per year. Hadn't it been for the Turkish award, nobody might have paid attention to that. The idea of the film is to erase all borders, because a closed border is nonsense. And culture is just the tool that can help open all borders if it receives as much attention."



"The festival in Antalia coincided with our football diplomacy, and our film diplomacy turned out a good priority for Armenia's football diplomacy," said Art Director of Golden Apricot festival Susanna Harutyunyan, Chair of Armenian Association of Film Critics and Film Journalists.



The film Border has also been awarded a special jury prize in Antalia for "featuring emigrants situation in an innovative and figurative manner". Earlier the firm had received platinum award in Huston film festival and was recognized as the best film in Syracuse. It received prize for the best direction in Shock Film Festival.



On December 3, the film will be awarded Italian art critics prize in Best Director nomination. The film was first screened in Armenian on July 15 within the frameworks of Golden Apricot festival. The film Frontier is about a buffalo which crossed the Armenian-Azeri border.
